34 Instagrammable Places in London

1. Red Phone Booth in front of Big Ben

Big Ben might be the most classic photo stop in London! And combined with a red phone booth you have captured the essence of London. The red phone booth in front of Big Ben is located at Parliament Square.

I hired a photographer to take this shot of me around 7-8am and you can too! I booked a photographer here and loved the experience.

📸 Photo Tip: Stand next to the photo booth or even open the photo booth and peak out for a nice photo!
☀️ Best Time to Go: Early morning to avoid people. People do line up to take pictures here during the day but you will still have people passing to the right of you and behind unless you go early.
📍Location: Parliament Square (Google Maps)

2. Arched Pedestrian Walkway with “Secret” View of Big Ben

The ultimate instagrammable place in London is the “secret viewpoint” of Big Ben located at the underground pedestrian tunnel (Google Maps Location here). You can cross Westminster Bridge opposite Big Ben to find it. Just be aware it will smell like urine and there’s a lot of foot traffic here but it’s not nearly as crowded as the views on the bridge.

📸 Photo Tip: Try to frame your shot using the arch of the tunnel to create a natural border around Big Ben.
☀️ Best Time to Go: Sunset is really magical here especially in winter time when you’ll find a more vibrant sunset.
📍Location: Closest Tube is Westminster (Google Maps)

3. London Eye & Big Ben View from Marriott County Hall Hotel

The ultimate Instagrammable place in London is the balcony at the Marriott County Hall Hotel, offering a stunning view of both the London Eye and Big Ben. Please note: you have to be a guest for the balcony view of Big Ben and the London Eye.

Here you won’t have to fight the crowds to get an amazing photo of these iconic landmarks in London.

Plus, if you don’t decide to stay here, then at least book an afternoon tea with a view of Big Ben at the Library which is part of the hotel. It is truly my favorite afternoon tea in London as I can’t get over the gorgeous view. Most of the windows have a view of Big Ben but for the best tables request in your booking to be towards the end of the room. There are no guarantees so you might want to book at opening time to get the best spot!

📸 Photo Tip: Add a pop of color with props like balloons to add more interest to your shot.
☀️ Best Time to Go: Anytime as you won’t have to fight crowds here since you have your own private hotel room or afternoon experience.
📍Location: Marriott County Hall, London (Google Maps). The closest Tube station is Westminster.
🏩 Hotel: Marriott County Hall has rooms with a London Eye and Big Ben view (Book now here)

4. Regent Street

The ultimate Instagrammable place in London during the festive season is Regent Street, featuring the iconic Christmas angel lights. However, Regent Street has different displays throughout the year whether it be flags for special events or themed decorations that change with the seasons. So anytime of year will make this spot worth adding to your Instagram tour of London.

📸 Photo Tip: Position yourself in the center of the street to capture the full spread of the angel lights above. Use a lower angle to include as much of the illuminated angels and buildings as possible.
☀️ Best Time to Go: Evening, when the Christmas lights are fully lit in November and December. Early morning during other months to escape the crowds.
📍Location: Regent Street, London (Google Maps). The closest Tube stations are Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus.

5. Piccadilly Circus

The iconic London Underground sign, along with the famous LED screens behind make this one of the best photography spots in London. Piccadily Circus really resembles Time Square in NY. In my opinion, it’s a mini version of it!

Standing right in front of the Underground sign and getting some of the billboards in the shot, will make a great photo. Just be sure to arrive early before you have to fight people coming out of the tube.

📸 Photo Tip: Make sure to frame your shot with the Underground sign in the foreground and the billboards in the background.
☀️ Best Time to Go: Early morning before the foot traffic gets heavy here.
📍Location: Piccadilly Circus (Google Maps). The closest Tube station is Piccadilly Circus.

6. Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum in London is one of the most beautiful museums in London and the best part is admission is absolutely FREE! 🆓

There are over 80 million objects spanning billions of years in this museum.

Don’t miss the colossal T-Rex skeleton, fascinating dinosaur fossils, stunning gem exhibits, and interactive exhibits on evolution and biodiversity.

The best photo spot here is definitely on the upper level with the whale skeleton in the backdrop. Just come at opening time and run to the spot to get it empty!

📸 Photo Tip: Position yourself at the balcony overlooking the impressive skeleton of the blue whale.
☀️ Best Time to Go: Go before opening time and bolt upstairs to this spot before everyone has a chance to make their way here. There will be a line to enter the museum at opening time so you’re in better luck if you come 15 minutes prior to opening time.

7. Cheval Three Quays – Hotel with Tower Bridge View

Staying at Cheval Three Quays is a dream come true. I couldn’t get over the view from the room of Tower Bridge. It’s one of the most instagrammable hotels with a view in London.

When selecting the room type, make sure to get the one that says “with tower or river view.”

All rooms had a view of the bridge, however, there was no bed close to the window as pictured. Instead, we made this little set up for the perfect Instagram photo.

📸 Photo Tip: Move the table in the living room and add pillows and blankets on top to give the illusion you’re in bed with the tower bridge view.
📍Location: Cheval Three Quays (Google Maps). The closest Tube station is Tower Bridge
🏩 Hotel link: At Cheval Three Quays, book the 2 bedroom with a River view to get the same room as above (Book now here)

8. Tower Bridge

Many people confuse Tower Bridge with London Bridge, but the one you want to take pictures of is definitely Tower Bridge.

London Bridge is not super photogenic, but it is located parallel to Tower Bridge.

The spot right on the bridge is busy with oncoming traffic, so definitely go at sunrise to get it quiet.

The Queen’s Walk is another nice photo spot. Since there’s a wall leading out to the water, no one will be in your photo.

📸 Photo Tip: Lean on the blue bridge with the tower in the backdrop. Be careful not to get in oncoming traffic and only stay on the pedestrian walkway for your pictures.
☀️ Best Time to Go: Early morning before the traffic gets heavy here.
📍Location: Tower Bridge (Google Maps). The closest Tube station is London Bridge.

9. One New Change: View of St. Paul’s Cathedral

One New Change is a shopping center near St. Paul’s Cathedral. If you venture this way, you will have a unique perspective of St. Paul’s Cathedral. This particular spot is between two glass windows, so it makes for a really cool photo.

Just go early, as with most of the instagrammable places in London, this spot will be busy with people passing through.

Pro-tip: Head up the elevator right behind this spot and take it to Madison Rooftop. You can go up to a semi-secret viewpoint of St. Paul’s for free, and you won’t have to dine at the rooftop if you don’t want to.

📸 Photo Tip: Stand between the two glass buildings for a unique perspective of St. Paul’s Cathedral.
☀️ Best Time to Go: Before the shops open would be ideal so you don’t have to deal with the constant people passing through.
📍Location: One New Change (Google Maps). The closest Tube station is St. Paul’s Cathedral.

10. St. Luke’s Mews

A mews street is an old horse stable. These streets are most of the time tucked away from the busy streets and are super picturesque.

This particular mews is super famous from the film “Love Actually.” It is located in Notting Hill which is home to many colorful buildings.

The pink home is really photogenic and during wisteria season you’ll find some nice plants to frame your perfect shot.

Another one of my favorite mews streets in Kynance Mews.

I especially love it during Autumn season as the whole archway is covered in beautiful orangey-red leaves. Wisteria season is also great because some of the homes are draped in wisteria.

Just be mindful and respectful of people’s homes while taking photos here.

📸 Photo Tip: Stand in front of the archway entrance to the street with the buildings appearing behind.
☀️ Best Time to Go: This is a relatively quiet spot so anytime could be just fine. It’s especially beautiful during the wisteria season in April or the autumn season in October.
📍Location: Kynance Mews (Google Maps). The closest Tube station is Gloucester Road or South Kensington.

12. Hillgate Place

Notting Hill, as mentioned, is home to the most instagrammable spots in London and the many streets have colorful buildings.

Hillgate Place is one of the colorful streets with pastel buildings. I absolutely love the bright colors. So pick your favorite shade and get some epic photos walking down these streets.

Again, be mindful as people live here so don’t invade the privacy of their homes by sitting on the steps or getting too close to their home.

Pro-tip: If you’re hungry after, head to brunch at Eggbreak. It’s one of my favorite brunch spots in London. There are often times a wait because it’s super popular but it goes quick!

📸 Photo Tip: Get as many colorful buildings in the frame. Angle the shot from the side to do so. Or do it straight on and pick 2 cute buildings so you have 2 colors in your shot.
☀️ Best Time to Go: It’s not too busy here so anytime is good.
📍Location: Hillgate Place (Google Maps). The closest Tube station is Notting Hill Gate.

Neal’s Yard is home to Neal’s Remedies which has a lot of organic beauty products.

Across the way, be sure to grab lunch at Homeslice for the best pizza. intown or in Seven Dials Market. There are tons of food stalls to choose from at the market.

📍Location: Neal’s Yard (Google Maps). The closest Tube station is Covent Garden or Leicester Square.

15. The Churchill’s Arms

The Churchill Arms in Kensington is the most instagrammable pub in London. That’s because during the summer it’s covered in flowers and during Christmas it’s covered in nearly 100 fir trees and tons of Christmas lights.

This pub interestingly offers Thai cuisine so be sure to pop in for lunch and a pint.

📸 Photo Tip: You can stand centered in front of the doorway and have someone take the photo from across the street. Just mind traffic and make sure you have a good zoom lens. Otherwise, another great shot is from the side of the pub.
☀️ Best Time to Go: As early as possible to avoid the many cars that pass by. The pub opens at 11am FYI.
📍Location: The Churchill Arms (Google Maps). The closest Tube station is Notting Hill Gate.

18. St. Dunstan’s in the East

Right next to Sky Garden you will find this hidden gem. It’s one of the best non-touristy things to do in London! It is however, becoming more and more known so keep that in mind as it won’t be crowd free anymore sadly.

The church garden is right in the center of busy central London and is so stunning!

Located in Hampstead, is the beautiful street Perrin’s Court. This is my favorite neighborhood in London. I lived here for 5 years and was obsessed. The neighborhood has a village feel but is still in Zone 2 of London. This street is particularly nice as it has a really charming feel.

They always have different installations inside too per season. During Christmas, they had a cute snow globe display. It is one of the best Christmassy restaurants to visit in London.

The Gallery is a beautiful room you can enjoy lunch or dinner. They also have the best afternoon tea in London in the Lecture Room. You need to book way in advance as it gets full early. The afternoon tea room used to be all pink. I absolutely LOVED this room. And sadly they painted it yellow now and my heart is totally broken. It’s still pretty but not the same at all.

This place is not cheap so keep that in mind too!

There aren’t too many Instagram hotspots in East London because it’s a bit grim and edgy. But one that definitely stands out is this pink wall on Princelet Street. It’s located in the funky Shoreditch neighborhood near Spitalfields Market.
