solo travel in Egypt
Is it safe to travel egypt solo?
Your guide to navigating Egypt solo.
Egypt can be a challenging destination for first-time or less experienced solo travelers. While the country is generally safe, you may encounter scams and persistent hassle, especially in tourist-heavy areas. Nothing is inherently dangerous, but as with anywhere, it’s important to stay alert, trust your instincts, and follow basic safety precautions.
My top tip: consider hiring a guide for parts of your trip where you might not feel fully comfortable navigating alone.
I traveled solo to Egypt and completely fell in love with the country. The people I met were some of the kindest I’ve encountered anywhere, and I truly can’t recommend visiting enough.
Egypt on a budget
Egypt is relatively budget friendly. A mid-range travel style trip could cost you between $1,500-$2,000 for a week. Hotels are very reasonably priced, especially compared to Europe and the U.S. What tends to add up are tipping expectations and the cost of tours and private guides, which many travelers rely on to navigate the main sights.
