Autumn in London 2024: 10 Best Instagrammable Spots for Fall Leaves

Autumn in London might be one of my favorite seasons as you can see the fall leaves turn that beautiful orange-red hue. I look forward to London in all seasons of the year though. In April, you will see the beautiful purple wisteria, in May all the storefronts get decked out with pretty flower displays, in October and November you will find the orange and red leaves drape across the homes and pathways, and finally, in December, you will see some much Christmas cheer around!

This guide is all about Autumn and will help you find the most instagrammable spots in London during the Autumn period.

When is Autumn in London?

The Autumn season in London begins in the second to the third week of October and generally ends in the second week of November. The autumn months might be one of the best times to visit London! The weather typically has a high of around 16C/61F and a low of around 10C/50F.

Where to see autumn leaves in London

The most instagrammable places in autumn to see the beautiful fall foliage in London are listed below. Some are definitely harder to find than others so read on and get ready to explore!

1. Kynance Mews

One of the most beautiful mews in London is Kynance Mews, especially in autumn time when all the leaves turn red. South Kensington is probably one of the most pretty and affluent neighborhoods in London. There are many streets in London that are Mews and they are usually tucked behind a hidden street and are very picturesque. Mews are essentially old horse stables full of cobblestone streets and carriage houses. The huge arched gate that marks the entrance to the mews is absolutely stunning as it’s completely covered in red leaves.

Note: in 2022, this location is sadly covered in scaffolding and construction so it won’t be the best for photos. Instead, you can visit Steeles Mews in Belsize Park!

2. Steeles Mews

In 2022, Kynance Mews was sadly covered in scaffolding and I found this little secret spot in Belsize Park. It is not quite Kynance Mews but it is a good alternative with an arched entrance and beautiful red leaves draping over. Belsize Park is such a charming area in London too. It is worth exploring the cute streets all around and is in close proximity to Primrose Hill and Hampstead.

3. Marylebone

Amply full of red autumn leaves – I’d love coming home to this every day. Labeled on Instagram as Marylebone, I will save you the trouble it’s located at 5 Wimpole Street.

Pro-Tip: This beautiful spot is super close to the street so if you find cars parked in the front, it may be hard to get the perfect shot. However, you can always angle to try and work around this.

4. Hyde Park

Hyde Park is where you will see all the leaves change and fall on the ground. So lovely walking through this park during this time. It is also the largest of four Royal Parks set right in Central London. You can get some fun pictures by laying in a pile of orangey leaves and placing a leaf in front of your eye.

5. Dalloway Terrace

This restaurant always changes its display per season. Be sure to go around October to see this Insta worthy cafe and sip on a nice golden Tumeric latte perfect for the season.

6. Les Senteurs

This perfume shop located in Belgravia has a beautiful storefront display in Autumn. Have a stroll in the store and leave smelling your best! Belgravia has to be one of the most high-end neighborhoods of London. If you want to have the perfect walk, head to Ebury Street and take a wander. There are many shops and cafes to stop by.

7. Hampstead

Hampstead is one of my where I live in London and I am deeply in love with it here! You won’t feel like you’re in London but instead a quaint village full of one pretty house after another. Discover the many streets full of autumn leaves including this Instagram famous one below. It is located off Arkwright Road on Fitzjohn’s Avenue. However, you will find so many wonderful homes adorned with pretty red leaves. Some of my favorite streets in Hampstead include Flask Walk, Hampstead High Street, and Perrin’s Court.

Location: Fitzjohn’s Avenue, near the junction with Arkwright road

8. Peggy Porschen’s Cakes

Peggy Porschen’s is known for the best cupcakes in London and its pink facade. In autumn, there’s a halloween inspired theme with skulls and pumpkins. Expect your coffee to have Boo! written in chocolate. If you’re lucky, you can snag a spot right next to the entrance outside. There are now a few locations around London – my favorite of which is in Belgravia but you can also find Peggy Porshcen’s in Chelsea!

9. Minnow

An independent neighborhood restaurant overlooking Clapham Common. Minnow is such a delicious brunch spot and its facade during autumn is too pretty to miss. Try the Full Minnow which is similar to an English Breakfast but a much nicer version of this typical British staple with sausage, egg, bacon, mushroom, and baked beans.

Autumn is such a gorgeous time in London but I love all the seasons in London. In Spring, all the gorgeous Cherry Blossoms come out, and in December, the city is full of so many pretty lights and Christmas spirit.

I hope you enjoyed this guide to the best places to visit in London to see autumn leaves.

10. Richmond Park

Richmond Park is another amazing spot to see fall foliage in London. It is also one of my favorite London neighborhoods, located far West but a quick and easy Overground train to get there. You can find many nice cafes and shops in Richmond on the way to the park. The park is absolutely huge and full of green space. You will also find cute deer there too but be careful not to get too close or feed them. Kew Gardens is also moments away and another great autumn spot. Here you can admire the botanical garden which is home to 16,900 species of plants.
