Where to Stay in Corfu Old Town
Corfu Old Town is such a wonderful base for your Corfu trip. I based myself at this 2-bedroom apartment right in the city center. It was conveniently located and had a balcony with a view! If you don’t have a car, it’s better to stay here as there’s buses that can take you around to other parts of the island. It can get expensive staying elsewhere without a car.
15 things to do in Corfu Old Town
1. Shop the charming local boutiques

I traveled to Corfu with my sister, and she had never been to Greece before. Now let me tell you, she was obsessed with the shopping here. There are so many handmade goods and cute dresses here. And, the best part is it’s super affordable!
We visited in July, and it was extremely hot, so we picked up some cute dresses in one of the many shops. I’d highly recommend getting a dress here because they are made out of such lightweight fabric, perfect for the heat! And most of the dresses were under €30. The shops open super late too! In case you love a after dinner stroll like I do – then this is just perfect.
2. Boat tour to Paxos & Antipaxos

This was truly the highlight of our trip to Corfu! We booked this boat tour, which left from Corfu Old Town and took us to some lesser-known islands. If you follow me on Instagram, you’d know that I love finding hidden gems wherever I go. Paxos and Antipaxos are so near to Corfu and have a lot fewer tourists.
My sister absolutely loved this experience. First, we sailed to Paxos and had about 2 hours or so free time to explore the cute town of Gaios. There were plenty of shops, a beautiful harbor, and great restaurants to choose from. We did some shopping and then dined at Fanalino Restaurant.
After heading back to our boat, we were taken to Antipaxos, known as the Maldives of the Ionian Sea! The water here is crystal clear. It will actually feel like you’re in a giant swimming pool. Here, we were able to swim and relax. The tour took us into some stunning caves! And as we sailed back to Corfu, there were performances – Greeks singing and dancing! It was actually such a fun day, and I’d highly recommend it.
3. Enjoy gyros for lunch

You can’t go to Greece without trying a gyro. These pita-wrapped sandwiches are filled with the most delicious chicken or lamb and topped with fries and tzatziki sauce. If you don’t want bread, you can also order a platter, as we did too! It was so good, trust me. I personally went for lunch at To Pikantiko, but I heard Pitonostimiés and Nino are good restaurants too.
4. Have coffee at Mikros Cafe, a local fave

One of my favorite little finds in Corfu Town was Mikros Café. By day, it’s a chill spot where you can relax with a coffee. But when I went at night, the vibe was even more cozy. It felt less like a café and more like a cozy, chill bar where you can relax with a glass of wine or a cocktail. We didn’t need a reservation here, but it does sometimes become quite popular.
5. Visit the Church of Agios Spyridon

The Church of Agios Spyridon is located in the heart of the town and is one of the most famous landmarks. It is dedicated to the patron saint of Corfu, whose relics are housed inside. It is one of the most photographed spots in Corfu town. The stairs leading up to its red facade make for a postcard-worthy photo. But don’t miss venturing inside to see the beautiful icons and ornate details. Even if you’re not especially religious, it’s worth a stop.
6. Explore the Old Fortress for panoramic views

If you only do one viewpoint in Corfu, make it The Old Fortress. It’s just a short walk from the old town streets, and you get panoramic views of the Old Town and the Ionian Sea. Plus, it’s such an iconic backdrop in Corfu. You can see views of the fortress itself from Imabari. Or if you take a boat tour to Paxos, you can also admire the views straight from the sea. For a bit of history, the fortress was built by the Venetians to protect the island from repeated Ottoman attacks in the 15th and 18th centuries.
7. Wander the Liston Promenade & Spianada Square

The best spot to soak up the atmosphere of Corfu’s Old Town is to wander around Liston Promenade and Spianada Square. The Liston Promenade is a beautiful, arcaded street lined with cafés and bars, perfect for a slow walk or a coffee stop. Spianada Square is right beside it and is the largest square in Greece. This is the perfect place to people-watch and take a break from sightseeing. You will also get views back toward the Old Fortress. The best time to visit is in the late afternoon or early evening, when the light softens, and the area starts to feel more lively.
8. Dinner at a traditional taverna in a garden

To Tsipouradiko is tucked away on an inconspicuous side street in Corfu Old Town. I have to say it was one of my favorite restaurants. They have traditional Greek food here, and it’s all so good! Sometimes there will be a queue to eat here, but it goes by fast and is worth the wait. The staff was really helpful in assisting us on what to order. I loved the courgette balls (kolokithokeftedes), saganaki cheese, and eggplant with feta.
9. Sunset cocktails at Imabari Bar by the sea

Visiting Imabari Bar is one of the best things to do in Corfu Old Town. They have swimming, food, and the best ever cocktails. You have a view of the Old Fortress. Plus, if you cross opposite the entrance to this bar, you have a fantastic sunset view with the water washing up to the shore.
10. Take photos of all the pretty streets

The Old Town is a UNESCO heritage site and you will see why as soon as you get here. The streets are full of beautiful architecture and cobblestoned roads. Just take your time as you stroll the streets to find a unique street. It won’t take much work to find one!
11. Visit the Museum of Asian Art, housed in a beautiful palace
The Museum of Asian Art is located inside thePalace of St. Michael and St. George. The building alone makes this stop worthwhile and wowed me. Inside, you’ll find an endless collection of artworks from across Asia. That includes ceramics, sculptures and decorative pieces. It’s a great thing to do in Corfu if you want a break from the heat.
12. Have gelato at Papagiorgis

My favorite spot for gelato was Papagiorgis. I could honestly have gelato daily because it’s that good in Greece!
13. Catch a show at the Corfu Theatre
If you’re looking for something a little different to add to your Old Town itinerary, I’d 100% recommend checking what’s on at the Corfu Theatre. Here you can catch live music, small concerts, and theatre performances. The tickets are often very reasonably priced, too.
14. Walk along the sea walls for golden hour views

Start from the edge of the Old Town by the Old Fortress of Corfu and follow the seafront path along the old sea walls facing Garitsa Bay.
This stretch has some of the prettiest open views in town, looking right across the water toward the green hills and villas on the opposite side of the bay. Halfway along, you’ll pass Faliraki Restaurant, which is a great spot for a drink right by the water.
The real highlight, though, is that you can keep walking the entire waterfront path all the way toward Mon Repos. It’s a flat and easy walk. I’ve seen some of the best sunsets ever in Corfu at this exact location!
15. Sample olive oil

You can sample olive oil at The Olive House by “The Governor.” They have a shop right in the middle of the old town (located here) where you can try olive oil for free and buy it if you like. I went on this tour with them where they picked me up at my hotel in the Old Town and took me towards the countryside to see the process of olive oil being made. It was such an interesting tour and I learned so much. I had no idea Corfu has such a huge olive-growing history, or that olive trees and olive oil have shaped the island’s landscape for centuries. On the tour you also get to try some snacks with the local olive oil. I loved the olive oil sprinkled yogurt we tried – it was amazing.
