2. Catedral de Santa Catalina de Alejandría

The Cartagena Cathedral is the most iconic place in Cartagena. You can’t leave without getting a picture of it! It is the front and center of a postcard-perfect photo of Cartagena, Colombia.

Located in the heart of the old town, the cathedral serves as the seat of the Archdiocese of Cartagena, playing a central role in both religious and historical contexts.

The best place to get a photo is down the intersection of Calle de la Iglesia and Calle 36. The side street is near the coffee shop Abaco Libros Y Cafe (Google Maps Location). Here, you see the beautiful yellow facade in the background.

3. Abaco Libros Y Cafe

As mentioned earlier, right next to the street which shows a glimpse of the Cartagena Cathedral, you’ll find this Instagram hotspot, Abaco Libros Y Cafe. It’s a super cute cafe and library where you can relax with a coffee and a book in hand.

4. Get a photo with the fruit ladies

Get a photo with the fruit ladies (aka Palenqueras) near Plaza Santo Domingo or Plaza Trinidad. They make such a great photo but do be warned that you’ll need to tip each of the ladies for the picture.

5. Plaza De Bolivar

Plaza de Bolívar, situated in the heart of Cartagena, Colombia, is a historic and picturesque square named after the South American liberator, Simon Bolívar.

Surrounded by colonial-era architecture, vibrant buildings, and palm trees, the square has so much charm. Its centerpiece features a statue of Bolívar on horseback, creating a focal point for visitors.

For the most Instagrammable photos, stand in front of the famous statue or in front of the benches where you can capture the light perfectly with trees framing your photo,

6. Casa San Agustin

Casa San Agustin Hotel is a boutique hotel and one of the instagrammable places in Cartagena. The indoor swimming pool in a courtyard surrounded with lush greenery makes a beautiful photo.

7. Parque del Centenari

Parque del Centenari is a stunning park you’ll pass through on the way to Getsemani. Don’t miss a photo here, especially with the unique trees in the backdrop. And while you’re there, don’t forget to look closely because you may spot wildlife such as sloths or iguanas in the trees!

8. Plaza de la Trinidad

Getsemani is the most photogenic neighborhood in Cartagena. Known for its street art, its a haven for those in love with creativity and art. Right across from that colorful corner in Plaza de la Trinidad, is this fruit stand. I really loved this moment and this cute man eating his fruit with a knife in hand! There are many fruit stands, however, all over Cartagena in the Old City.

10. Calle de la Magdalena (Umbrella Street #1)

My favorite thing ever is an umbrella street. They make me so happy because they are so cheerful and colorful. This is the first umbrella street as there are 2 in Cartagena! This one is on Calle de la Magdalena in the Getsemani neighborhood.

11. Callejón Angosto (Umbrella Street #2)

The second umbrella street is Callejón Angosto. Also located in the Getsemani neighborhood. This street is much more narrow and can be dark and shady at times of the day so it’s best to shoot here in the morning. You will find many cute colorful buildings too on this street!

12. Calle de la Sierpe

Calle de la Sierpe is one of the entry streets to the Getsemani neighborhood. This famous road is full of every flag of the country so while you’re snapping a photo, have a look for your flag too!

13. Movich Hotel Rooftop Pool & Bar

The Movich Hotel’s rooftop pool is possibly the most instagrammable place in Cartagena. It might be one of the most photographed spots for sure! That’s because it has the best views in the entire city. Lounge all day at the pool and grab some photos or go at sunset for a drink and snap a shot on the railing of the rooftop by the pool.

To visit, you don’t have to stay at the hotel if you either buy food or drink at the restaurant or buy a day pass which grants you access to the pool for a swim.

14. The City Walls

The city walls is another top photo spot in Cartagena, Colombia. The best time to visit is at sunset but it will be extremely busy with other tourists. Many go to Cafe del Mar for a drink and to stand or sit along the walls.
