Vietnam Travel Insurance
Hoi An is an incredible place to visit, but if youโre staying long-term, one thing you shouldnโt overlook is having the right insurance. Vietnam has affordable healthcare, but unexpected medical expenses or travel mishaps can still happen. Thatโs why I recommend SafetyWingโs Nomad Complete planโit provides full health insurance while living in Vietnam and also covers me when traveling to other countries, including my home country.
With Nomad Complete, I get routine medical care, mental health support, and maternity benefits, plus coverage for emergencies, travel delays, and lost luggage. Itโs perfect for digital nomads, expats, or anyone planning an extended stay in Hoi An. Unlike traditional travel insurance, this plan is designed for long-term travelers, so you donโt have to worry about gaps in coverage.
Wherever you decide to stay in Hoi An, make sure you have peace of mind knowing youโre fully covered with the right insurance!
Where to Stay in Hoi An
Many people who visit Hoi An never leave the Ancient Old Town. While, itโs a great area to stay, itโs also very touristy and busy. Iโm breaking down the different areas of Hoi An and you can choose which vibe suits you. Iโll also share my personal favorite area as someone who visited for several days and jumped around areas to find the best accommodation in Hoi An.
1. The Old Town (Minh An District)
The Old Town is the heart of Hoi An and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Itโs known for its charming historic streets, lantern-lit alleys, and beautiful architecture. Itโs bustling during the day with tourists exploring the ancient temples, traditional houses, and iconic Japanese Covered Bridge. At night, the streets come alive with lanterns lighting the streets, street vendors, and cozy cafes. There are many things to do in Hoi An just right in the center of the Old Town!
2. Cam Chau
Cam Chau is a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of central Hoi An. This area is where youโll find the real authentic local charm and also benefit from cheaper accommodation. Youโll find local eateries and cafes in front of rice paddy views! Itโs home to many small family-run businesses. Itโs a great option for travelers seeking a tranquil atmosphere while still being within easy reach of the town center and other attractions. Cam Chau also provides opportunities for cycling through scenic countryside paths, exploring hidden gems, and interacting with friendly locals. I stayed at 2 different hotels in Cam Chau and they were stunning! I took Grab (similar to Uber) to reach the town center or you can rent a bicycle or motorbike. This was my preferred area to stay in!
3. Cam Thanh
Another countryside area of Hoi An is Cam Thanh. For a taste of rural life and eco-tourism, head here. Surrounded by lush greenery and peaceful rice paddies, this area provides a glimpse into traditional Vietnamese village life. Itโs located halfway between the Old Town and the beach.
4. An Bang Beach (Cam An District)
If youโre craving sun, sand, and sea, then stay next to An Bang Beach. This coastal area offers a laid-back beach vibe with soft golden sands and clear blue waters. Itโs dotted with beach bars, seafood restaurants, and sun loungers, making it an ideal spot for soaking up the sun by day and enjoying beachfront dining by night.
