Where to Stay in Hue
Hue should absolutely be on your Vietnam itinerary! Here’s the best areas to stay in Hue and if you’re short on time, I’d recommend Phú Hòa as it’s in the city center of Hue.
1. Phú Hòa
This is Hue’s City Center and you’ll be near the city’s most famous attractions like the Perfume River. This area is ideal if you’re looking for easy access to restaurants, shops, and historical sites like the Imperial Palace. You’ll find both budget and mid-range hotels, as well as some upscale options.
If you’re a first-time visitor, I’d definetly recommend staying in this area. It is also where you’ll find the best nightlife especially if you hang around Nguyen Tri Phuong Street and Le Loi Street.
🏨 Top pick: Pisces Hotel I stayed here and LOVED it … It was so stylish reminding me of Morocco and it was only $25/night!
2. Vinh Ninh
Vinh Ninh is a quiet, residential area that offers a more local experience while still being close to major attractions like the Imperial City (just a 20 minutes walk away) and Perfume River. It’s ideal for those who prefer a less commercialized environment. The area has plenty of nice hotels and homestays.
🏨 Top pick: Silk Path Grand Hue Hotel
3. Thuan Hoa

This is the area right next to the biggest attraction of Hue, the Imperial City. In which you will need several hours (no exaggeration) to explore. I would say minimum 4 hours as it’s huge and stunning!
🏨 Top pick: The Purple Hue Homestay: The location is perfect for exploring the Imperial City
4. Vy Da
This is one of the cheaper areas to stay in (although all of Hue is relatively cheap!). Also, fewer tourists are staying in this area since it’s a bit further from the main attractions. So if you’re on a big budget, I’d recommend staying here for as little as $10/night.
🏨 Top pick: Purple Hue
