You can see my video on Instagram about the experience and a glimpse of all the views I saw.

How much does a Lake Como Boat tour cost?

A Lake Como wooden boat tour will set you back €300 an hour. It is quite a hefty price to pay but the boats accommodate up to 6 people. If you can bring a few people and split the cost, it becomes much more affordable.

There are also group boat tours in case you are on more of a budget. The group tours last around 2 hours and cost €70/hour (140 for 2 hours).

In addition, you can get boat rentals for around €150 an hour. Boat hires are a great option if you’re with a confident sailor!

However, if the cost is still a concern, there are alternative ways to experience Lake Como’s beauty.

For one, public ferry services offer more budget-friendly options to explore the lake and visit various towns.

Additionally, walking along the lakeside promenades or taking a regular ferry can still provide beautiful views of the surroundings.

Is a Lake Como Boat Tour worth it?

You might be wondering if a Lake Como boat tour is really worth it. As mentioned, it’s quite steep in price. Can you justify spending €300 an hour to see Lake Como by boat?

I decided to try it out to let you know what my opinions are. I only split the tour with a friend of mine and we both loved the experience. I mean, this is the most classic thing to do when visiting Lake Como after all.

To really do Lake Como right, you can’t miss sailing on the lake. It allows you to see the stunning scenery from a different perspective. It really is an unforgettable experience especially if it’s your first time visiting. Sailing through all the picturesque towns with spectacular views, is something I’ll never forget.

Lastly, many people visit Lake Como in a short day trip from Milan so a boat tour allows you to see many things in a short time.

Best Lake Como Wooden Boat Tours

1. Classic Speedboat Tour (from Tremezzo)

The exact Cadenazzi wooden boat tour I booked when I visited Lake Como was the Classic Speedboat Tour. It lasted 2 hours and the meeting point was in Tremezzo.

Here’s how you can spend the perfect day in Lake Como and combine other nice activities with your classic wooden boat tour!

On day 4 of my 4 days in Lake Como, I spent the morning visiting the famous Villa Balbianello, one of the most beautiful Lake Como Villas! This villa is where famous films took place such as James Bond’s Star Wars Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Casino Royale.

You will see this villa from the boat tour too but since the boat tour doesn’t stop, I’d recommend visiting the villa before your boat trip. Alternatively, you could book this boat tour which includes a stop to Villa del Balbianello.

After, our visit to the villa, we walked 30 minutes to the famous and iconic hotel, the Grand Hotel Tremezzo. Here we enjoyed lunch at T Pizza. After admiring this extraordinary hotel and wishing we were fancy enough to have a room here, we hopped on a short 10-minute bus ride to our boat tour location.

The tour stopped at many iconic spots in Lake Como. We admired so many nice views on our private boat excursion. My favorite stop was Nesso where you’ll see a pedestrian bridge and an actual waterfall! I really wish we had visited Nesso as I love hidden gems and this was just that!

We also passed through the best spots like the town of Bellagio and the beautiful Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo.

`When you book with GetYourGuide, the great thing is you can cancel up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund.

2. 1 Hour Private Wooden Boat Tour (from Como)

This tour allows you to relax in a traditional Venetian taxi during this exclusive private tour experience. The elegant wooden and leather interior of this luxurious boat accommodates groups of up to 11.

The boat is equipped with awnings and covers for inclement weather. You’ll be provided with drinks and gourmet snacks upon request. Embarking from Como’s tourist jetty, the one-hour guided tour covers iconic landmarks such as the Life Electric installation by Daniel Libeskind, the neoclassical Villa Olmo, and the stunning Villa Erba.

Navigating towards Cernobbio, often dubbed the Paris of the Lario for its luxury villas, the tour goes to the famed Villa Oleandra in Moltrasio, once home to George Clooney.

3. 2 hours Private Boat Tour of Lake Como for Groups of 1 to 7 People (flexible pickup and dropoff)

This boat tour is nice because there’s a flexible pickup and drop-off location. The tour can pick you up from Bellagio, Lenno, Menaggio, or Varenna.

On the tour, you’ll see all the best places, including Villa Le Fontanelle, once owned by Gianni Versace, and the historic Villa Pliniana, which has inspired luminaries like Leonardo da Vinci. The tour continues to showcase beautiful villas like Villa D’Este, Villa La Cassinella under Richard Branson’s ownership, and George Clooney’s former residence. Notable stops include the cinematic Villa del Balbianello and the historical Villa Erba.

4. Sunset shared boat tour with aperitif (from Bellagio)

This tour is a nice option if you don’t have much time and if you’re a solo traveler. It lasts an hour and you’ll be accompanied by other guests which cuts the cost down a bit. It is also at sunset which is the best time for a boat tour! The tour offers champagne and a chance to meet other travelers.

There is also a similar tour that leaves from Varenna instead of Bellagio.
