Where to Stay in Chongqing: Epic Hotels with a View

Wondering where to stay in Chongqing? Before we get into the best neighborhoods, let me just say this: it’s seriously one of the coolest cities I’ve ever visited. This comes from someone who’s been to 100s of cities across 50+ countries. With that being said, where you stay in Chongqing really matters to be able to make the most of this complex city.

China also does hotels like nowhere else I’ve traveled. You can stay in an incredible luxury hotel for around $200 a night. A similar hotel would easily cost you over $1,000 a night in many other parts of the world.

And if you’re on a budget, you can find really nice hotels for $30 a night! I highly recommend getting a hotel with a view. Going to bed in front of the Chongqing skyline is truly magical. I took this trip to China solo, so I did a mix of luxury, and then for the remaining nights I booked a cheaper accommodation.

Read on for the best hotels in Chongqing with a view. These range from very affordable budget hotels to luxury hotels at a great price.

Best Hotels in Chongqing with a Skyline View

1. SEYA Panoramic Hotel

SEYA Panoramic Hotel was one of my favorite hotel stays when it comes to the insane value for money. You get a private butler who contacts you on WeChat, working with any of your requests right away. During my stay, I got a complimentary photoshoot, access to their very cool Storm Spa, and a complimentary afternoon tea. They even do your laundry for free (up to a certain amount).

If you ask for more water, coffee, or any extra amenities, it gets delivered to your door by a robot, which is so cool. You will open your door to find the robot automatically there. This is the case at many hotels in China, not just this one.

You will need to reserve the Storm Spa ahead as it can get booked up. I was able to do it just a day ahead, thankfully. The photoshoot can be here or somewhere else of your choosing. I picked the Storm Spa. I believe you get 3 free photos, and if you want more, you have to pay for those. They show you the photos, and you can select your favorites and decide if you want to pay for more.

The staff here are super friendly and treat you like royalty. They have a few locations around the city, and I stayed at the Jiefangbei Flagship.

The complimentary afternoon tea at Iseya was fantastic. I loved the details, and the restaurant also had views of the city.

2. Indition High Altitude Hotel

This hotel also has an amazing view of Chongqing. They have different room types, and since I was on a bit of a budget, I booked the room above for $50 a night. This is their Peninsula Capsule room. It has a unique silver wall with an oval cutout showing the gorgeous Chongqing skyline. I loved lying in bed and admiring the view.

There was also a butler service here, but I found the staff at SEYA to be much warmer and friendlier. They were nice here too, but just on another level at SEYA. Plus, you don’t get the free add-ons you got at SEYA.

I think if I booked this one again, I would’ve gone for a higher room type. They are much more spacious and have a unique design with giant pools. You can see what I mean from this person’s Instagram post here. For under $200, you can get a really cool room spanning 2 floors!

3. YOLO Skyline Riverview Designer Hotel

This is one of the most affordable hotels with a pool/bathtub in the room. They have many other room types that are even nicer than the one I stayed in. I had the Hot Spring King Bed Room, and it was about $50 a night. Chongqing can be foggy a lot, especially in February when I visited. So the view here is a bit obstructed, but it was such a nice view of the Dongshuimen Yangtze River Bridge.

The staff know a small amount of English. When I visited Chongqing, very few people knew a single bit of English. Despite this, the staff were super nice and went out of their way to check on me. The main communication method was WeChat. They answered all my questions and even helped me order takeout through one of their apps.

4. Hongya Dieyuan Hotel

This hotel has a view of Hongyadong and the Qiansimen Bridge from your room!

5. Conrad Chongqing

The Conrad is a super fancy hotel brand. Did you know you can stay there for $150 a night? The prices for hotels in China are unreal to foreigners. It is one of the top luxury hotels in Chongqing and has to be on your bucket list if you’re wondering where to stay in Chongqing.

6. InterContinental Hotels

Another top luxury hotel in Chongqing without the hefty price tag is the InterContinental Hotels. Plus, if you stay here, you are inside Raffles City, Chongqing’s iconic landmark. It has panoramic views of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers.
