Dresden Christmas Markets: The Most Beautiful City for Christmas

Where to Stay
I stayed in the most magical hotel overlooking the oldest Christmas Market in the world!
Dresden was the prettiest Christmas market I’ve been to, and I found an epic hotel with the best view of the market, hands down.
Saying good night every evening to this view was such a dream!
I stayed in room 430 on the fourth floor. I believe this is the best floor for the view. Any higher would be too high, and any floor lower would be a bit too low. Unfortunately, you cannot guarantee a Christmas market view with the room type that you book. So if you really want it, I would recommend booking online here and then sending a message to them through booking.com to request a view.
The Christmas market is scheduled to run from November 25 to December 24, 2026.

Best Things to do in Dresden
- Wander through Striezelmarkt, the oldest Christmas market in the world (dating back to 1434!). It’s very traditional.
- Explore Neumarkt Christmas Market in front of the stunning Frauenkirche. This one felt especially magical at night, with market stalls and church bells ringing through the square.
- Step back in time at the Medieval Christmas Market in Stallhof, where vendors wore period costumes, the food was tasty, and mulled wine was served in heavy clay mugs.
- Stroll along the Elbe River near Brühl’s Terrace, soaking up the winter views and stopping by smaller, quieter festive stalls.
- Try Dresdner Eierschecke at Dresdner Kaffeestübcher – it was soooo good!
